There are three prep races for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe scheduled on Sunday September 11th at Longchamp, and three Japanese runners will participate there.
Nakayama Knight(JPN), 3-y-o Colt by Stay Gold(JPN), will be in the field of G2/Prix Niel, the prep race for three-year-old colts taken place at the same course and same distance as the Arc. The Yoshitaka Ninomiya's trainee is the winner of G3/Kyodo Tsushin Hai, and finished fourth in G1/Tokyo Yushun/Japanese Derby last time out. The colt bred by Okita Bokujo was sold to Shinichi Izumi for 10,000,000yen at the yearling session of 2009 JRHA Select Sale. Yoshitomi Shibata will be on-board on Sunday.
Nakayama Knight's stable mate Nakayama Festa(JPN), 5-y-o Horse by Stay Gold(JPN), will run G2/Prix Foy, the prep race for older horses on the same card. Nakayama Festa finished second in the 2010 edition of G2/Prix Foy, before narrowly beaten by Workforce in G1/ Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Nakayama Festa got injured in G1/Japan Cup last November and G2/Prix Foy is his first start of season. The colt bred by Arai Bokujo was sold to Shinichi Izumi for 10,000,000yen at the yearling session of 2007 JRHA Select Sale. Masayoshi Ebina is booked for him on Sunday.
Nakayama Festa will be joined by Hiruno d'Amour(JPN), 4-y-o Colt by Manhattan Café, the winner of G1/Tenno Sho Spring in May, in the G2/Prix Foy.
Three Japanese horses arrived at France on August 10th, and it is reported that they have been trained well there.
