Air Groove, dam of sale topper, is Japanese Horse of the Year, and she has produced three Graded Stakes winners, including Admire Groove by Sunday Silence, Japanese Champion Older Female.
The filly is bred by Katsumi Yoshida of Northern Farm and consigned by Shunsuke Yoshida's Northern Racing.
360,000,000yen is the record price at the yearling session of JRHA Sale. The previous record was made in 2007 when colt by French Deputy out of My Katies was bought for 250,000,000yen.
In prior to the sale, everybody was worried about the market, because the economy in Japan was badly affected by earthquake and tsunami happened on March 11th. But this was not true.
197 lots were sold for 4,726,000,000yen in total, and the gross sale is 49.6% increase of previous year. The average price, 23,989,847yen, is 31.5% higher than the figure of 2010.

Northern Farm, leading consignor on the session. "I expected good sale, but this result is much better than I expected". With regard to the sale topper, Katsumi Yoshida said, "I did not want to sell her. But I thought she can be s star of catalogue, which we need. I believe she will become a star on racecourse."
