The foal session of JRHA Select Sale was organized at Northern Horse Park on Tuesday July 10th.

The list of freshman sires who sent their first crop at the foal session of JRHA Select Sale is very gorgeous and one of them is Maurice(JPN), winner of six Graded One Stakes in Japan and Hong Kong. Hip#339, colt by Maurice out of Lasting Song(JPN), consigned by Northern Farm, was bought by KT Racing Co. Ltd for 170,000,000yen, US$1,531,532.
"We own yearling colt out of Lasting Song, by Lord Kanaloa(JPN), and like him a lot", Yoshihiro Kunimochi, racing manager for KT Raicing, said about his purchase. "The price is higher than we thought, but we are happy to receive him at our stable. I would like him to become international runner as his sire".
Another exciting new sire is Duramente(JPN), who won G1/Japanese Derby in 2015 establishing new stakes record, and Hip#397, colt by Duramente out of I'm Yours, consigned by Northern Farm, was bought by Nick Co. Ltd for 180,000,000yen, US$1,621,622.
"He has great pedigree, great conformation, and he is good mover2, Hiroyasu Takeuchi, bloodstock adviser to Nick, said after the purchase. "He has 4x4 of Dyna Curl, Japanese Oaks winner in 1983, which looks very attractive for me."
Proven stallions are also popular as a matter of course, and Hip#400, colt by Deep Impact(JPN)
out of Ria Antonia, winner of G1/Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies, was bought by Hajime Satomi for 290,000,000yen, US$2,612,613, the highest price at the session.
"This is my pick of day", Satomi told to press members after signing the ticket. "This colt reminds me Satono Diamond(JPN) and my adviser, Yasuo Ikee, suggests this is the nicest Deep Impact foal in the catalogue. I hope he will get one better place in Japanese Derby than Satono Diamond (who finished second in Japanese Derby)."
Hip#382, colt by King Kamehameha out of Hikaru Amaranthus, consigned by Northern Racing, was bought by Yoshihisa Ozasa for 140,000,000yen, US$1,261,262.
"I come here to find nice colt by Heart's Cry or King Kamehameha", said Ozasa after the purchase. "My trainer, Yoshito Yahagi, recommends this colt and I like him, who has very attractive head. I hope he will be good mile and half horse."
